Without a doubt, the snow and ice removal industry is growing and maturing at a rapid pace. To reflect this positive momentum, Snow Magazine again increased its annual recognition of top contractors from last year's 75 to 100. Raising the bar provides a broader, more complete snapshot of who's who among snow professionals in this industry.
As you scan the list, you'll notice it reflects anumber of snow removal contractors who are appearing for the first time. Those firms are identified as "not-listed" (NL) in the previous year's ranking. So how did we compile this year's list? Begining in May, we distributed nomination forms to North American snow contractors via the pages of Snow Magazine, fax and e-mail, through our bi-weekly e-newsletter and from direct requests.
Once the nomination process closed in late September, the completed forms were entered into a database, the numbers and monetary units crunched and snow removal firms were organized according to their respective 2006 snow removal revenue. In the cases where two or more, snow fighters reported the same I snow revenue figures, those contractors shared the same rank.
So whether you're ranked among the Top 10, or among those in the 90s, every snow fighter on this list deserves a round of applause and a hearty pat on the back. And for those of you who submitted an application form but are absent from this year's ranking, please don't despair. As this winter approaches, continue to work toward improving your business operations and contributing to this industry's reputation for professionalism.
